Admission procedure:

> Apply online (www.graduate.mc.edu)

> Pay application fee ($30; cash, check or money order by mail)

> Submit all official transcripts including both undergraduate and graduate

    - Should have one year experience in the healthcare field

    - Must hold a bachelor¡¯s degree in one of the healthcare sciences from an accredited college or university, or hold a bachelor¡¯s

      degree in a related field

> Submit official GRE scores

    [Must have a combined score of 850 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE or a score of at least 450 on either section and a

    score of 2.5 on the Writing Assessment of the GRE General Examination. (If these requirements are not attained after two attempts, appli-

    cant may contact the MHSA faculty advisor to determine whether he or she may qualify under an alternate equation that factors in the under

    graduate GPA)]

> Must show credit for Accounting Principle I as a prerequisite to HSA 6507 Healthcare Financial Management. [Official substitu-

    tion for prerequisite to IDS 493 Basic Financial Management for Health Service Administrators].

 

Requirements to complete the MHSA:

> Must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate work

> Must participate in the Health Services Convocation during the last semester of course work

 

 

 

Required Courses (24 hours):

> HSA 6504 Research-Methods and Procedures (3 hrs)

> HSA 6507 Healthcare Financial Management (3 hrs)

> HSA 6531 Contemporary Issues in Healthcare (3 hrs)

> HSA 6550 Legal Aspects of Healthcare Admin. (3hrs)

> HSA 6555 Health Services Admin. Seminar (3 hrs)

                      (Capstone course; after 24 hours)

> HSA 6561 Healthcare Management (3 hrs)

> HSA 6571 Healthcare Marketing (3 hrs)

> GBU 6551 Organizational Behavior (3 hrs)

                      (must complete prerequisites)

 

 

 

 

Elective Courses (6 hours):

Students may select courses in the fields of Business, Communication and Psychology with the consultation of the faculty advisor.
