As an Administration of Justice major, you’ll take courses such as:
- Introduction to criminal justice
- American constitutional development
- Police process
- Judicial process
- Law, crime and social control
This program is designed to prepare graduates to hold professional positions in law enforcement and criminal justice. The foundational curriculum in law and government is supplemented with study that develops essential law enforcement knowledge and skills.
Choose Your Focus
Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice
The B.S. in Administration of Justice offers the opportunity to specialize in one of the following areas: Police Process, Corrections Process, Judicial Process or Criminology. Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice – Homeland Security Certification The B.S. in Administration of Justice with an emphasis in Homeland Security includes additional coursework in homeland security, emergency management and more. This rigorous program prepares graduates for careers in law enforcement agencies that fight domestic, international and cyber terrorism.
Three-Three Law/Administration of Justice Program
Pre-law students with high test scores and excellent grades may enter the Three-Three Program, which positions qualified applicants for early admission to Mississippi College Law School. Coursework in government, constitutional development, law and legal research is included in the curriculum.
The MC Experience
The Department of History and Political Science at Mississippi College strives to inspire our students to greater intellectual curiosity and stronger commitment to Christian and democratic ideals. Students explore the historical progress of civilization and the diverse philosophies of government. In so doing, they build their skills in critical thinking and their knowledge about the world we inhabit. Since the Administration of Justice program began in 1984, we’ve graduated more than 225 bachelor’s candidates and 65 master’s candidates; our successful alumni hold positions of responsibility in law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

What You’ll Do
Take part in our active Criminal Justice Club, Phi Zeta Rho. Our chapter was formally accepted by the American Criminal Justice Association and its national organization Lambda Alpha Epsilon in 1990. We’ve hosted 100 different speakers delivering fascinating talks on criminal justice and law enforcement — including 30 MC alumni. We also organize Career Forums where students meet with criminal justice professional working at the local, state and federal level.
Participate in Pi Gamma Mu, the national honor society that seeks to improve scholarship in the social studies and achieve synthesis between its various disciplines.
Where You’ll Go
Recent Graduates
Our newest alumni are pursuing rewarding careers in their fields. One ‘08 grad is working as a Probation/Restitution Officer for the Rankin County Youth Drug Court. Another is working in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the State Attorney’s Office. An ’07 grad is working for Homeland Security in Jackson, MS. Several others are serving on the police force in their home communities.

- Ray Prouty (’99), Instructor at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Academy in Pearl, MS.
- Scott Lollar (‘00), Special Agent for the Secret Service office in Jackson, MS.
- Stephen McCraney (’00), who served a tour of duty with the Air Force as a Reserve Officer in Iraq, and currently works for the Mississippi Department of Homeland Security.
- John Haynes (‘01), who completed Officer’s Candidate School in the United States Air Force and Flight Training School and is currently serving in the Middle East.
- Tim Keen (’01), special agent with the Secret Service.
