Q. How far in advance do I need to submit an application for the Graduate program?
A. Students who meet all entrance requirements may submit completed application up to and including the day classes are scheduled to begin.
Q. Do I need to have taken the GRE prior to admission into the HSA program?
A. Graduate students in HSA program may complete one semester of course work prior to taking the GRE.
Q. What type of jobs would I be able to apply for with the MHSA degree?
A. This program was originally designed as a graduate degree for working healthcare professionals. It has evolved into a type of business degree with a healthcare focus. For those students with a clinical background, MHSA provides essential tools in Contemporary Issues, Financial Management, Organizational Behavior, Legal Aspects and others to accept a position in middle-level healthcare administration. Most all of our graduates have gone on to management positions in private, for profit, non-profit and not-for-profit health services areas, and some have continued to pursue doctoral degrees in a related field.
Q. I’m not a clinical person. Can I still pursue a MHSA degree?
A. Contemporary health services covers a broad range of options including support in Medical Informatics, financial management, risk management and others that may never provide direct clinical patient care.
Q. What does the future of healthcare hold for me?
A. So much of our future is determined by extraneous factors such as the national economy, international research studies and current events. There will always be a need for good health services led by knowledgeable individuals educated to make good decisions.
