School of Nursing

The School of Nursing is located in Cockroft Hall which provides a central location for nursing faculty offices and classrooms. The Harvey Garrison Jr. Learning Center houses the audio-visual media and simulated patient care centers. The audio-visual display capacity is augmented by the College's Learning Resources Center which is located in the Leland Speed Library. Computers are available for both student and faculty use, and are augmented through the College's Computer Laboratory located in Self Hall.

Nursing classes are conducted on the Mississippi College campus. The clinical portions of the nursing courses utilize a variety of hospital and agencies in the Jackson area. Students may also elect for learning experience in other localities within the United States or in foreign countries.

Congregational Health Nursing

Congregational Health Nursing (sometimes called Parish nursing) is growing at a phenomenal rate for a relatively new health care specialty. The basic mission for congregational health nursing is to promote health and wellness within a Christian faith community using the disciplines of worship, service, and education.

A CEU certification program endorsed by the International Parish Nurses Resource Center and sponsored by Mississippi College, Baptist Health Systems, and Mississippi Baptist Convention is now offered yearly. This course may also be taken for 3 hours of college credit.
