Pre-Professional
programs in which a degree may be earned from Mississippi
College:
- Premedical
and Predental Course
(Premedical Advisory Committee; Stan Baldwin, Chairman)
By far the majority of those admitted to medical or dental schools have
completed a bachelor's degree program. The curriculum of this program
can be used as a planning guide for the first three years fo such a four-year
program, with modifications to fit the major chosen. However, any student
who is able to gain admission prior to finishing a degree and who completes
the three-year premedical or predental curriculum may be awarded, upon
completion of one year of satisfactory work in an accredited medical
or dental school, the degree of Bachelor of Science from Mississippi
College. Application for the degree must be made through the Registrar's
Office. The degree will be awarded at the next regular commencement after
the completion of the first year in a professional school. Those not
following this 3+1 program should follow the degree program outlined
under their chosen major and consult with a member of the Premedical
Committee to insure that the courses required by medical or dental school
are included.
- Three-Three
Law Degree Program
(Dr. James Stewart, Advisor)
The purpose of the Three-Three Program is to give pre-law students with
strong academic records and ACT/SAT scores a chance to complete their
entire Mississippi College undergraduate and law school programs within
a six-year period instead of the traditional seven years.
Academic
units which sponsor the Three-Three Program include the Departments
of English, History and Political Science, Sociology, Social
Work and Family Studies, and the School of Business.

Pre-Professional
programs which do not lead to a degree from Mississippi
College
- Prepharmacy
(Premedical Advisory Committee; Stan Baldwin, Chairman)
This curriculum satisfies the course requirements for entry into the
first professional year of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
Other schools of pharmacy may differ slightly in their requirements.
With careful scheduleing the curriculum can be completed in two years,
although some students prefer to complete a bachelor's degree prior to
entering pharmacy school.
- Preveterinary
Medicine
(Premedical Advisory Committee; Stan Baldwin, Chairman)
A student who completes course work in this program will be eligible
to apply for admission to an accredited college of veterinary medicine.
However, students seeking admission to a college of veterinary medicine
are encouraged to complete requirements for the baccalaureate degree.
- Pretheological
Course
(Dr. Roger Green, Advisor)
Students preparing for church-related vocations need to develop strong
functional skills in a context of broad cultural understanding. To major
or minor in the Department of Christian Studies and Philosophy will offer
a distinct foundational advantage for continuing theological studies.
Other
suggested majors or minors would include communication, English,
history, psychology, sociology, and related areas which would
ensure a comprehensive liberal arts background.
Because
of the demands made upon those who seek to minister in the
modern world, courses in communication, computing science,
language, and business would be a wise use of electives for
the development of skills which will greatly enhance and facilitate
ministry.
- Other
Health Professions
(Premedical Advisory Committee; Stan Baldwin, Chairman)
Curricula are available for preparation for professional programs in
Health Information Management, Dental Hygiene, Cytotechnology, Osteopathy,
Podiatry, Occupational Therapy and others. Students should consult with
a premedical advisor regarding specific curriculum requirements.
- Agriculture
Transfer Program
(Dr. Bill Stark, Advisor)
For those students interested in agriculture missions or other programs
in agricultural missions or other programs in agriculture, a cooperative
transfer arrangement has been made between Mississippi College and Mississippi
State University.
