What kind of school is Mississippi College?

Mississippi College is a private, co-educational, comprehensive university of liberal arts, sciences and professional studies. A Christian university, MC is affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. MC is the oldest four-year college and the largest private institution in the state of Mississippi, and the 2nd oldest Baptist college in the United States.

Where is MC located?

Mississippi College is located in the community of Clinton, MS, a town of about 26,000 residents, a mere 15 minutes from Jackson, the State’s Capitol. Clinton, MS has been ranked in the Top 10 Most Livable Cities in the South and provides a safe environment for our students to live and work.

How many students attend MC?

Over 3800students attend Mississippi College. About 2,600 of these students are undergraduate, and the remaining 1,350 comprise the Graduate School and the School of Law, which is located in downtown Jackson.

What types of academic programs are available?

The instructional program is divided into six schools: the School of Science and Mathematics, the School of Business, the School of Education, the School of Nursing, the School of Christian Studies, Communication and Arts, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Undergraduate degrees are awarded in over 80 areas of study and graduate degrees are awarded in 25 fields of study, including but not limited to Specialist in Education, seven pre-professional programs and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD).

How many faculty members teach at MC?

Employing 180 full-time faculty members, plus highly qualified adjunct professors, Mississippi College offers academic excellence that begins with teacher dedication. A high percentage of the faculty holds earned doctorates, and over fifty percent of those who teach undergraduates also teach graduate courses. With a student/faculty ratio of 13:1, students and professors are able to cultivate relationships that extend outside the four walls of the classroom.
