All persons graduating with a Bachelors degree from Mississippi College, regardless of major, e.g., English, History, Biology, etc., are required to take the following University Core Courses, consisting of 42 semester hours.
English 099 (0 hrs) [Writing Proficiency Exam]
English 101 (3 hrs) [English Fundamentals]
English 102 (3 hrs) [English Composition] or English 103 (3 hrs) [Accelerated Composition]
Bible 110 (3 hrs) [Introduction to the Old Testament]
Bible 120 (3 hrs) [Introduction to the New Testament]
Computer Science 114 (3 hrs) [Introduction to Computer Science]
Any Mathematics course with a catalog number of 101 or higher (3 hrs)
Two Science courses (one of these must be a 4 hour course with lab)
Three hours of Physical Education
Four Chapel credits (two credits for transfer students)
Two Literature courses chosen from:
English 211 (3 hrs) [World Masterpieces]
English 212 (3 hrs) [Survey of British Literature]
English 213 (3 hrs) [Survey of American Literature]
Two History courses chosen from one of the two following sequences:
History 101 (3 hrs) and History 102 (3 hrs) [History of Civilization]
                                            or
History 201 (3 hrs) and History 202 (3 hrs) [History of the United States]
Two courses chosen from the following:

Economics 131 (3 hrs) [American Economic System] or Economics 231 (3 hrs) [Economic Principles I]
Sociology 205 (3 hrs) [Principle of Sociology] or Sociology 207 (3 hrs) [Societies of the World]
Political Science 201 (3 hrs) [American National Government]
Psychology 201* (3 hrs) [Introduction to Psychology]
Any Philosophy course (3 hrs)
Foreign Language 205 (3 hrs) [Cross Cultural Understanding]

*Please note: UMC Dental School requires 3 hours of psychology
