DEPARTMENT OF CHRISTIAN STUDIES

The Department of Christian Studies and Philosophy at Mississippi College offers studies in the areas of Bible and Christian Heritage, Christian Education, Philosophy, and New Testament Greek. Courses in religion have always been part of the Mississippi College curriculum as evidenced by the publication of the first catalog in 1852-53 which contains courses such as: Bullions' Greek Grammar, Biblical Antiquities, Natural Philosophy, and Evidences of Christianity. In 1902-03, a School of Greek and a Department of Philosophy were listed in the school catalog. Henry Franklin Sproles was listed as the first head of the Department of the Bible in 1904-05.
