Program Overview
Educational leadership training for the 21st century must reflect educational
reform that places greater emphasis on teaching and learning. To provide the
exceptional leadership required in schools, the bar must be raised; and, Mississippi College's School of Education
has accepted that challenge.
Mississippi College
offers a unique Educational
Leadership Preparation Program at the master’s degree
level. Each June, a group of carefully selected cohort members begin a
fifteen month modular program consisting of 39 semester hours. The program is
delivered by a faculty offering seasoned experience and innovative
perspectives to provide a series of modules focusing on six dimensions of
leadership:
1. Personal/Interpretational
2. Instructional
3. Organizational
4. Resource
5. Political
6. Informational
These dimensions are integrated with seminars, practicums, and internships,
and culminate in formal internships during the last semester of preparation.
Cohort members who complete the Mississippi
College Educational Leadership Program are prepared to
provide immediate educational leadership for schools focusing on excellence
in teaching and learning.
