Honors Day Awards Recipients - Spring 2008

 

Alan D. Lowe Secondary               Bryce D. Yelverton             

   Education Honor Student                                   

A monetary award given annually in honor of Alan D. Lowe, Mississippi College cooperating teacher from 1967-1985.  This award is given to the secondary education student rated highest in student teaching, scholarship, personal qualities, educational ideals and contributions.

 

The Eugene I. Farr Scholar          Michael B. Pigott, Jr.            

An annual monetary award established by the Jackson Field Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa in honor of Dr. Eugene I. Farr, a 1926 graduate of Mississippi College and Professor of Education from 1954 to 1971.  Based on scholarship, research and leadership, the award is made to one or more men students of the senior class who are preparing for a teaching career.

                                      

Glenda Locke White Elementary     Sondra L. Palmer           

   Education Honor Student                                           

A monetary award given annually in memory of Glenda Locke White, a first grade elementary teacher and 1966 Mississippi College graduate.  This award is given to the elementary education student who rated the highest standard of achievements in student teaching, scholarship, personal qualities, educational ideals and contributions.

 

The Jack B. Carmean Memorial       Meggan E. Prince        

    Scholarship                                                            

A monetary award given annually to a Special Education major who, having completed their junior year, evidences potential for future contribution to the field of Special Education as demonstrated by scholastic achievement, leadership, and campus or community participation.
