FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING
CENTER
The Department of Foreign Languages began operation of
the Foreign Language Learning
Center located in the
northeast corner of the first floor of Jennings Hall in the fall of 1998.
The FLLC houses a SONY LLC-9000 system with an instructor's console, a
response analyzer, a video presentation stand, a VHS cassette recorder, a
worldwide video cassette recorder that converts the signal format of any
tape into the desired format for playing, a DVD/CD player, a television
monitor and computer.
In the main area of
the FLLC students can work with their professor in a classroom setting or
individually at their own pace in the twenty-five carrels equipped with a
recorder and television monitor.
A second area of the
FLLC is the listening and viewing area that contains a 32" television
and video cassette recorder. Students may watch a video or one of two
international channels received via the campus network and available in all
dormitory rooms and other locations on campus.
There are ten computers located in the third area where students may
work with software in their target language.
The FLLC is open to
students enrolled in foreign language classes at Mississippi College
during the fall and spring semesters. Operating hours are posted on the
entrance door. Students majoring or
minoring in foreign languages staff the facility.
