Clubs
- The Department maintains an active Math Club which is also
a student
chapter
of the Mathematical Association of America.
- Outstanding Mathematics Majors and Minors are invited to be
members of
the MC chapter of the national honorary society Pi Mu Epsilon.
Dr. Melinda Gann serves as sponsor for both of these student
organizations.
Professional Service
- Most departmental faculty maintain active memberships with
national
professional
organizations such as the Mathematical
Association
of America and the American
Mathematical
Society.
- Each spring, the Department of Mathematics, along with the
other
science
areas, organizes the Science and Math Tournament. This
state-wide competition annually involves over 1300 students and 140
schools.
- Departmental faculty are involved in a number of activities
within the
university community and the broader community. In addition to being
involved
with the Math Club, athletic program, and Mortar Board on campus, the
mathematics
faculty are active in several local area churches and Habitat
for Humanity.
