Music ProgramsThe Music Department of Mississippi College provides a number of programs developed to showcase the musicians of the department to each other and the community allowing their talents to shine!
Organ ToursEach year, students and alumni of the organ program travel to a major metropolitan area to play and crawl through pipe organs, to network in the field of church music, and to discuss church architecture and acoustics. Cities visted include Memphis (2001, 2005), Dallas (2002, 2006), New Orleans (2004, and Houston (2003). Upcoming tour cities include Houston (2007), Birmingham (2008), and Atlanta (2009). Piano TripIn September, piano students from Mississippi College will travel to Leeds, England to attend the Leeds International Piano Competition. The purpose of the trip is to hear the twelve solo recitals that comprise the semi-final round of this important and respected competition. With an extremely limited number of opportunities for hearing high-quality solo recitals in this area, plans are to establish a tradition of attendance at these international competitions on an annual basis.
