Auditions

An audition before members of the music faculty is required of all students who declare music as a major. The student majoring in music may choose the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), the Bachelor of Music (B.M.), or the Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.Ed.) degree. The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music is a broad program with approximately one-third of the curriculum in music with an option for various minors. The Bachelor of Music degree is designed for the student who is interested in music as a profession. The Bachelor of Music Education degree, which is designed to meet the standard educator licensure requirements for teachers of music, is for the student who plans to teach in the public schools. (Educator licensure requirements will be found in this catalog under School of Education.) The Master of Music (M.M.) is also offered at Mississippi College.
