Philanthropy

Nenamoosha has officially adopted the Winfred Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants and the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, both part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, as our philanthropy.  We have completed one year of service at the hospitals, and pledge our continued commitment to them for years to come.

Our members choose one of many different areas throughout these hospitals in which to volunteer regularly throughout the school year.  Volunteer areas include Activity Rooms, Infant Care, Reader-to-Patient Program, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Newborn Nursery, OB Receiving, Guest Relations, Visitor Assistance, and Labor and Delivery.

Other members choose to host a special activity time in the children's hospital once a semester.  This involves art and craft projects, games, reading, music, or other creative and uplifting projects for the patients.

The adoption of a philanthropy is important because all of our service efforts are focused on one organization in the community.  This has become a cornerstone for our tribe, and we expect all members to make their volunteerism at UMC a priority in their college lives.

Nenamoosha's hope is that we will be able to play a part in comforting and sharing Christ's love with the women and children patients, along with their families, during their time at the hospitals.
