Agency Description: They provide services to children and adolescents in a psychiatric residential setting.  The ages range from 7 to 17.  They also have a chemical dependancy program that serves ages 12-17 that utilizes the twelve step program. The ARK Center is a 24 bed residential treatment facility for adolescents aged 12-17 who are battling drug and alcohol dependencies.  The private, non-profit facility is funded by grants and donations.  It offers an accredited school for residents with a GED program.  Residents attend group, family and individual therapy sessions designed to promote behavior modification.
 

Volunteer Description: Few volunteer positions exist at the facility.  However, volunteers may assist residents with homework, test preparation, and may visit residents in the group activity room.  Volunteers may also observe group counseling sessions. Volunteers for the ARK are carefully screened by the Director.  No one under age 21 need apply.  A thorough background check will be conducted.  The confidentiality of residents must be respected at all times.

Days and Times Volunteers Needed:
Monday - Thursday 3:30-5:00 or 6:00-7:30
Saturday and Sunday - 10:00a.m. -12:00p.m.
