Community Service Center
Goals
The Mississippi College Service Center has been given a unique challenge
in the form of this college and community. To facilitate the work done
through the Service Center, several strategic and specific goals have been
identified.
Strategic Goals for 2001-2002
- The Service Center shall successfully maintain a vital Mississippi
Reads Project.
- The Service Center shall develop an awareness of the services it offers
the students of Mississippi College.
- The Service Center shall increase the application of service learning
in academic courses.
- The Service Center shall effectively serve students seeking to participate
in volunteer activities.
Specific Goals for 2001-2002
- Organize and implement a service fair near the beginning of each semester
to make students aware of volunteer opportunites in the community. Each
service fair will include participation by at least 10 local agencies.
- Organize and implement training for each tutor participating in
Mississippi Reads.
- Recruit and maintain at least 75 tutors for the Mississippi Reads
program.
- Use a Student Advisory Panel to plan and implement an innovative campus-wide
service project.
- Refer at least 200 students to local service agencies.
- Maintain records of volunteer activities for each student referred
by the center.
