Personal Information

Dr. Melton is the campus sponsor for Kappa Delta Pi, an educational honor organization.  KDP website

She is also campus sponsor for Nenamoosha Social Tribe.  NT website

Dr. Melton grew up in Batesville, MS, where she attended South Panola High School.  She then entered Mississippi College, where she received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education. She taught middle school in Hinds County at Utica Elementary for a year, then taught fifth grade students at Eastside in Clinton for six years.  During this time she received the Teacher of the Year award and the Metro-Jackson Outstanding Teacher award, began teaching adjunct courses for Mississippi College, and completed her Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in Educational Leadership and Administration.  She has been teaching full-time at MC since 2001.  In 2005 she received the Outstanding Young Professor of the Year award.  

She is married to a graduate of Mississippi College.  They have two precious young children; a son, 4, and a daughter, 2.
