My Professional Life

I'm the director of the Administration of Justice program at Mississippi College where I've been for the last 23 years. I not only advise but I also teach undergraduate and graduate students. I'm also the sponsor of the Criminal Justice Club, Phi Zeta Rho. I also belong to the following professional organizations:

My Personal Life

I am  married to Barbara Porter, who recently retired after 21 years as a first grade teacher at First Presbyterian Church Day School. Barbara is currently the Associate Director of the Children's Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi.

My son, Ryan, who received his B.A. from Delta State University in 1997and  his M.S. from Union University in 2005,  teaches 9th grade Biology and is the Head Baseball Coach at Southern Baptist Educational Center in Southaven, Mississippi

My daughter, Paige Porter Fischer, received her B.A. from Mississippi College in 1997 and her M.S.in the Southern Studies Program at the University of Mississippi  in 1998.After graduating  from Ole Miss she was a features writer for the Southern Living Section of the Clarion Ledger Newspaper for one year. After one year with the Clarion-Ledger she spent 3 1/2 years as a features travel writer for Coastal Living Magazine. In May of 2004 she became the West Coast Editor for Better Homes and Garden Magazine.
