Lab Manual Paper
Textbook Pen/Pencil (coloring pencils might be useful)
Safety Glasses Gloves (if you want them)
You MUST purchase a lab manual from the Biology Office (Hederman 104). You will be required to complete a
prelab quiz via the on-line MC Moodle program before each lab.
II. LAB EXPECTATIONS:
- There will be NO food or drink in the lab. NO GUM CHEWING.
- For safety reasons, book bags should be placed UNDER the table, not on the table or
beside your chair.
- Each student is expected to read the lab experiment before coming to lab and
complete any pre-lab questions.
- Each student is expected to participate fully in the lab experiment. While lab partners
should be helpful, everyone should be working to successfully complete the lab.
- Each student is expected to fully clean his/her work area before leaving lab. The
daily lab grade will be penalized if the work area is left in an unsatisfactory
manner.
- Failure to comply with the listed expectations may result in a lowered lab grade.
III. LAB GRADING SYSTEM:
Each lab instructor will determine the source of grades in his/her lab. The final lab grade may consist of any combination of: pre-lab questions, pre-lab quizzes, post-lab quizzes, participation points, and exams.
Remember that lab counts 25% of your BIO 111 grade.
IV. MAKE - UP LABS:
There are no make-up labs. You are expected to be in your regularly scheduled lab. If illness or a school-related function forces you to miss, you may attend one of the other scheduled labs in the same week if 1) you present a doctor’s note or a note from the coach/sponsor of the school-related function, and 2) you receive permission from the instructor first. The scheduled lab times are:
T, W, R, F 1:30 – 4:30
T, W, R 6:00 – 9:00
It will be the student’s responsibility to make sure any grades received in the substitute lab are transferred to his/her regular lab. Absences for extreme circumstances may be considered on an individual basis. Talk to your lab instructor.
Inconvenience is not a reason to swap lab times.
Emergencies should involve police and/or doctors.
Not being prepared and/or other tests is not a reason to take a lab test on another day.
Do Not Schedule Other Activities During
Your Lab Time!
