Mississippi College provides students with the
opportunity to combine an excellent education with practical work
experience through internships. With an approved internship, the college
grants academic credit for "hands-on" career related experience.
There are many employers who participate in a formal internship with
Mississippi College. These employers are able to utilize the services of
the faculty to assist in recruiting interns and to design their internship
for academic credit. Most interns work part-time while attending class,
and summer interns frequently work full-time at the internship site.
Some internships are for pay, and some are not. For questions regarding internships for academic credit, please contact Dr. Melissa Wiggins, mwiggins@mc.edu or go to the Academic Internship website.
"Not-for credit" internships are also available for students. It is the student's responsibility to
secure these internship sites and negotiate their terms with the employer,
as the college has no involvement. Search the College Central Network for available internship opportunities.
What can an internship do for you?
Participating in an internship gives you the opportunity
to:
- test your career choice
- earn college credit
- make informed decisions regarding major courses
and electives
- build work experience for your resume
- present yourself as potential candidate
How do you apply for an internship?
