Career Services prepares students for their future by helping them define their personal definition of success and by giving them the confidence and abilities necessary to achieve that definition of success. Many students struggle with finding their own voice and learning how to best communicate the assets and ideas that they have to contribute; Career Services is the catalyst that engages and empowers them to invest in their imminent future. I would highly recommend that students utilize the vital services that Career Services has to offer you. Career Services is an additional set of ammunition in your career arsenal.

2011 Graduate Business Administration/Finance Concentration
I didn't use Career Services just once or twice. The Career Services staff are the individuals who are interacting with the local employers, and if they know who you are and what you are interested in, they can connect you with the right employers. Career Services also helped me present myself to those employers in a professional manner. After preparation with Career Services, and a campus interview with Trustmark National Bank, I have started a career path to becoming a Financial Advisor.

KATIE ROWLAND
May 2011 Graduate Social Studies
Career Services prepared me for every step of the job hunting process. What I liked most about using Career Services was the confidence they gave me. They became my cheerleader, my coach, my mentor, and a friend. The training I received from Career Services put me on a higher level than the other applicants. They taught me how to be prepared and professional. I felt like I could go to them with any question and I would have an answer. In the fall I will be a 12th grade government teacher at Madison Central High School and the head coach over their volleyball team.

My favorite aspect of Career Services was, without a doubt, the staff. Not only did they help me professionally, they cared about me personally. My successes, in and out of the work-force, became their successes too. Having a group of people so committed to your future really inspires confidence – you believe you’re ready to take on the world!
The most important advice I ever received from Career Services was advice about the power of networking. Be kind and be courteous in your vocational path, from your first interview until your last day on the job. Key contacts are crucial to landing the career you want, and promoting positive relationships yield harmony and efficiency, hallmarks of true professionalism.
