The Center for Economic Education and Analysis seeks to become the primary resource for state agencies, public companies and private sector organizations seeking economic analysis and data relating to the Jackson-metro area.


Dr. Mark McComb -  Director of CEEA - Dr. McComb received his Ph.D. in Management Science from the Stuart Graduate School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology, his M.A. in Mathematics and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Louisville, and his B.S. in Mathematics from Mississippi

Mr. Chris Smith - Director of CEEA, Education Initiatives - Mr. Smith received his Bachelors and MBA from Mississippi College. He was recognized in May 2010 as the Outstanding Teaching Award Recipient in the MC School of Business. Chris Smith Vita



Our mission is to promote economic education and analysis in the Jackson-metro area by:


  • compiling and maintaining a data center of statistics relevant to the metro-area
  • disseminating data to government agencies, libraries, businesses, news services and the general public
  • scheduling appearances in local venues and media outlets to discuss current topics relevant to the center staff’s areas of expertise
  • coordinating the publishing of articles in local print media from time to time
  • assuring that inquiries and questions of the local media regarding the Jackson-Metro Area economy are responded to by our experts
  • establishing partnerships with central Mississippi schools to advance economic education among our K-12 teachers and students
