ORIGIN/AUTHORIZATION:
The Strategic Planning Process at Mississippi College was initiated in August
1994 with the establishment of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee (SPSC).
The Committee was restructured in 1999 and again in 2003.
MEMBERSHIP: Committee
membership is comprised of individuals who have an interest in planning issues
at the university level and who bring experience and skill to the planning process.
SELECTION
OF MEMBERS: This Committee is a Presidentially appointed Committee.
CHAIR:
The chair of the committee is appointed by the President.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee (SPSC) directs the planning process.
Major responsibilities are as follows:
- To direct the
overall strategic planning process at Mississippi College.
- To develop
and update a mechanism for planning.
- To recommend
institutional priorities and the resource allocations that accompany priorities
to the President of the university.
- To use appropriate
data, both institutional and external, to make informed decisions.
- To direct the
flow of information from the steering committee to all departments and offices.
Five sub-committees
are responsible for generating objectives and action plans for improvement to
the area they are assigned. In addition, each sub-committee is responsible for
feeding the needs of their respective area into the budget process.
REPORTING:
The Committee reports directly to the President.
