Welcome, from the vocal/piano side of Music Education at Mississippi College.  I welcome interest in our program, both undergraduate and graduate.  If I can answer questions or be of help in any way, please contact me.

About Me

 

     Bonnie Blu Williams is Professor of Music Education.  She teaches elementary vocal music methods, Junior/Senior High Choral methods, graduate music education classes and supervises vocal/piano music education student teachers.  In addition, Dr. Williams advises the MC collegiate chapter of MENC, sings with the Jackson Choral Society, is on the Advisory Board for the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education, and is the past President (2000-2002) of the Mississippi Music Educators Association.

      She received her BME degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA and MME and PhD degrees from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.  Her research focused on the girl’s changing voice.  While at UNT she taught music education classes as a graduate fellow, taught voice classes through the Continuing Education Department and was active in TMEC and TMEA.  Dr. Williams has three levels of both Kodaly and Orff Certification training and did summer study in Hungary and Austria.  She recently received certification in Music Together, a Pre-K Music Program.  Dr. Williams presented The Girl’s Changing Voice at the Sixth International Symposium of Singing in St. John’s, Newfoundland Summer of 2007.  She has been Resident Professor for the MC London Semester Program for three years.
