About Me

I am currently Vice President for Christian Development at Mississippi College. I am a graduate of Vanderbilt University and have earned my Master of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I have served churches in Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Mississippi. In addition to my work at MC I continue to be involved in transformational ministries that focus on urban and community development.

Before coming to Mississippi College in July of 2002 I was the Director of Campus Ministries at Anderson University. As a researcher, writer, professor, pastor, and conference speaker I am often asked to address issues regarding spiritual formation, reaching and raising godly children (which I hope I’m doing), and how we can respond to the cultural and generational changes effecting society.

I direct the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Extension that meets on the MC campus. I have filled numerous pulpits across the Southeast including interim pastorates at Parkway Baptist in Natchez, First Baptist Lexington, an Education Interim at Broadmoor Baptist in Madison, and I also lead conferences and seminars on discipleship, marriage, and effective ministry practices.

I am married to my best friend, Penny, who is an incredible wife, a fantastic mom, and a caring nurse. Together we have three wonderful children: Grace, Paul, and Chip.
