Chair, Professor of Art, ART
Welcome to Spring 2016!
Welcome to Mississippi College and the Department of Art. 2016 promises to be an exciting time in the life of our department. Our three new degree programs have been very successful -- the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art (BFA) (2011), the Master of Science Degree in Graphic Design (MS) (2014), and the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree in Graphic Design (2012). They join our remaining degrees in art education, graphic design, interior design, and studio art to offer a variety of degree programs to meet your needs. Visit us on our website at art.mc.edu or on Facebook at Mississippi College Department of Art. We will be happy to arrange a tour or help you in any way.
I am very honored to have been asked to teach in our London program during the spring of 2016. It will be an exciting time for the students and I to travel abroad and study in the UK. This will be my second time to participate in this program. I will be teaching a digital photography course titled "Digital Composition." Students will learn about camera basics, exposure, photoshop, and most importantly composing good photographs. London is a wonderful city and a great place to study photography.
You will see many additions and new faces in our program. Our Interior Design program is now accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). We have several remodeling projects going on in our department this year, including Kenneth M. Quinn Library, and Aven Graduate Computer Lab / Studios. In addition, the Baptist Healthplex and Pimentos Cafe on campus feature the work of MC art students, faculty, and alumni. All of this is the product of growth and continued success in teaching. Please drop by for a visit!
