2008 MC Orientation Session Scheduled June 20-21

Mississippi College leaders will welcome hundreds of incoming freshmen at orientation sessions on the Clinton campus June 20-21.

Receptions for students and parents, dinner in Anderson Hall, a visit to an MC coffee house at the Baptist Healthplex, plus meetings with President Lee Royce and other key administrators are among the activities scheduled.

"We are expecting a sensational group of freshmen and transfer students that will ultimately become the future of Mississippi College," said Scotty Elliott, director of admissions. "Orientation is gratifying for our office because we see firsthand the fruition of the Lord's work through our profession."

Events begin with a 5 p.m. check-in and reception on Friday June 20 at the Anderson Hall Foyer at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Later, there's a 6 p.m. dinner in Anderson Hall, an 8 p.m. briefing for students in Swor Auditorium and 8 p.m. reception for parents at the Samuel M. Gore Galleries.

Events on Saturday June 21 include a 7:15 a.m. breakfast for students in the food court, a 10:20 a.m. general assembly in Swor Auditorium and 12:15 p.m. lunch for students and parents. Students will sit in academic advising sessions in small groups. Students coming for orientation will stay overnight in MC residence halls.

MC officials expect to greet at least 250 incoming freshman for this month's orientation.

Similar sessions to welcome new students and parents are also booked for July 11-12 on the Clinton campus. A separate session on July 10 is scheduled for transfer students.
