Career Day 2015 Invites Scores of Employers to Mississippi College

Mississippi College Career Day

Mississippi College students will network with nearly 80 employers and size up job prospects during Career Day 2015.

The MC Office of Career Services is sponsoring the annual event on February 17 that’s open to job-seeking students and recent alumni. The program that Tuesday runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Anderson Hall on the Clinton campus.

Representatives from Baptist Health Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, Northwestern Mutual, WLBT-TV 3, government agencies, military branches, and school districts will be on hand to size up students. Officials from the region’s graduate and professional schools will visit, too.

“Career Day is an exciting opportunity for students and recent alumni to network with employers for potential opportunities, including internships,” says Derrick Echoles, assistant director of the Office of Career Services.

Career Services staffers, Echoles said, “look forward to providing students and recent alumni with assistance and resources for life after MC.”

With the USA economy brightening with national unemployment rates falling to 5.6 percent, the recovery gives more hope to millions of college students in the new year.

Recruiters are expected to pour in from school districts around the Magnolia State to take a look at the latest crop of future educators on the Clinton campus.

“The Mississippi College Career Day is an important date on our calendar each year,” says Sandi Beason, public relations director for the Clinton Public School District. “We’ve recruited many talented, energetic and highly qualified teachers from MC over the years.”

Representatives from area hospitals are also signed up for MC’s Career Day 2015. Nationwide, and around Mississippi, nurses and other professionals are in big demand in the health care sector.
