Class of 2009 Graduates at Mississippi College

Dennis Swanberg
A Christian comedian, author and preacher, Dennis Swanberg speaks at two Mississippi College graduation ceremonies May 9.

Also dubbed America's "Minister of Encouragement," Swanberg is booked to speak to the Class of 2009 on that Saturday at graduations at the A.E. Wood Coliseum. The two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. are for MC undergraduates receiving their diplomas.

Swanberg's hilarious impressions of deputy sheriff Barney Fife of TV's "Andy Griffith Show," and presidents from Ronald Reagan to Bill Clinton are always crowd pleasers. So are his funny stories with a message about his faith.

"The Swan" is also a big-time MC supporter. His oldest son, Chad Swanberg, is a May 2005 MC graduate. His youngest son, Dusty Swanberg, is a December 2008 MC graduate. Chad and Dusty Swanberg work at Swanberg Christian Ministries in West Monroe, La.

Dennis Swanberg also spoke at MC's Fall 2008 Convocation on the Clinton campus.

MC's Class of 2009 will also hear from retiring professor Buddy Wagner, who also heads the university's counseling center. Dr. Wagner will speak to MC's graduate school ceremonies Friday May 8 at 7 p.m. in the A.E. Wood Coliseum. Wagner spent about 27 years on the faculty at the Baptist-affiliated university.
