Communication Department Takes Home Two Awards

The Mississippi College Communication Department recently received two awards in competition sponsored by the Mississippi Baptist Convention.

One of the awards at the Mississippi Baptists in Broadcasting event in May went to the department for best Web site. The site features departmental news and photos, profiles of alumni and the best of student-produced media.

MC students working in the Television Workshop II class won for best video program/feature production (Division Two) for their production of "Academic Competition" in the spring of 2009. The work is produced by the Learning Resources Center at the Leland Speed Library and Office of Continuing Education. Student winners included: Jessica Daves, Jason Grigsby, Nicole Keefer, Josh Long, Terri Lorden, Ebonee Magee, LaTrisha Matthews and Keisha Shumpert.

The awards were announced at the event at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison County with the winners highlighted in "The Baptist Record." Communication professor Reid Vance, who works closely with the Learning Resources Center, says he's proud of MC's accomplishments.
