Fall Preview Day 2014 Set for September 13 at Mississippi College

Mississippi College Preview Day September 13

Tours of Mississippi College’s cadaver laboratory, the Choctaws football game with North Alabama, and informative sessions on financial aid are all on the Fall Preview Day agenda.

The September 13 event will bring prospective students and parents from around the USA to the Clinton campus for a blitz of activities to find out about life at the Christian university.

Activities begin that Saturday with a 1 p.m. check-in at Nelson Hall.

President Lee Royce, Vice President for Enrollment Services and Dean of Students Jim Turcotte and Director of Admissions Kyle Brantley will be among the speakers at Swor Auditorium welcoming hundreds of visitors to MC.

As of early September, there are 140 students and 300 family guests signed up, but more are expected in the coming days, Brantley says.

Visitors on the Clinton campus will also hear from professor Beth Stapleton, who chairs the Department of Modern Languages, MC sophomore Mary Beth Hughes and Vice President for Christian Development Eric Pratt, among others.

Parents won’t be left out. Starting at 3 p.m., parents can attend sessions on Mississippi College scholarships, student services, community activities and much more.

Prospective students are invited to visit MC professors and learn about scores of academic programs during meetings at Alumni Gym starting at 4 p.m.

Guests will later gather for a delicious dinner on the Quad and take campus tours beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Visitors sticking around the Clinton campus can cheer on the Choctaws at the team’s first home football game of the 2014 season.

Making its transition to NCAA Division II, Mississippi College faces Gulf South Conference rival North Alabama. Kickoff that Saturday is 7 p.m. at Robinson-Hale Stadium. The GSC game will be broadcast by ESPN3.

Earlier in the day, prospective students interested in joining the university’s equestrian team are welcome to attend an open house at Providence Hill Farm off Carsley Road. The 90-minute event begins at 11 a.m.

Mississippi College’s second Fall Preview Day is set for Saturday November 8.
