Flowood Center Offers Lunch and Learn Sessions

America’s economy remains stuck in a recession, so it’s a good time for Mississippians to enhance their job skills.

Mississippi College’s new Flowood Center will bring experts in for three Friday sessions in September to make that happen.  Each hour-long session begins at noon.

The public is invited to a series of “lunch and learn” programs taught by leaders of MC’s Career Development Center.

Set for September 10, the first session will help visitors develop their resumes. The focus for the second session on September 17 will be how to improve interview skills. The final program in the series on September 24 will help participants develop their social network.

Each program lasts 30 to 40 minutes and there will be time for questions, says center director Sara Kimmel.  Folks coming to the sessions are encouraged to bring their own lunch. There is no cost to attend the “lunch and learn” series.

Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, MC’s director of retention and career services, and assistant career services director Clare Agostinelli, are expected to serve as presenters at the sessions.

The Flowood Center is located adjacent to the Flowood Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 115 Laurel Park Cove, Suite 101.

The center in Rankin County serves as the home of MC’s Accelerated Degree Program. Geared to working adults, the ADP program offer classes two nights per week towards degrees in business administration, accounting, marketing, public relations and sociology. Classes begin August 23.
