Gore Galleries Hosts Exhibit for Haiti Mission Trip

An art exhibit at Mississippi College's Gore Galleries will help benefit an MC mission trip to Haiti.

The display April 26 through May 4 will feature the works of MC art professors Steve and Ruth Glaze. After 19 years of devoted service to MC, they are leaving to accept teaching posts at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. starting this summer.

Moving requires the Mississippi couple to minimize their baggage. They will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of their art work to help an MC delegation travel to Haiti as the Caribbean nation rebuilds after an earthquake.

Their move to Liberty University comes with mixed emotions.

"This was certainly a difficult decision for us as our roots are deep at MC," said Steve and Ruth Glaze in a recent letter to MC friends and alumni.

Members of the MC family want to say thanks to the couple before they go. The Christian university will host a special reception in their honor on Thursday April 29 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Gore Galleries. Some of their work for sale can be seen at www.mc.edu/artsale.

The exhibit will be something special, MC art colleagues say.

"This is a great way to pay tribute to the Glazes and raise money for Haiti, too,"' said MC Art Department Chairman Randy Miley.

People interested in purchasing the art work should contact Betty Williamson of the Office of Christian Development at 601.925.3235.
