Mississippi artist Wyatt Waters of Clinton, is joining the lineup of Mississippi Public Broadcasting's TV programs.

The Mississippi College graduate from Clinton will discuss his life and artwork on the weekly show "Southern Expressions." Broadcast from its Jackson studios, the program airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on its statewide network of stations.

His work has been featured in numerous magazine stories, including "Mississippi Magazine" and "Art and Antiques." Two books have been published about his paintings. The Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson and Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel have hosted solo shows of his art work.

Last week, the Mississippi Main Street Association recognized the Wyatt Waters Art Gallery in Clinton as its merchant of the year. The gallery in Olde Towne shared the honor with a Gulf Coast business. Waters is an award-winning watercolor artist, who first was encouraged to pursue his craft under then-MC Art Department Chairman Sam Gore.

"Southern Expressions" has featured other artists on the MPB weekly series including such guests as painter Bill Dunlap and quilter Gwen Magee.

Another MC person who is a frequent MPB show guest is MC business professor Nancy Anderson. She's a weekly guest on the radio program "Money Talks" that airs statewide every Tuesday morning. Mississippians call the MC educator and small business owner and other panelists with their questions about the state of the economy and other topics. The show airs on 91.3 FM in the Central Mississippi area at 9 a.m.
