Scores of recruiters will visit the Clinton campus to meet with hundreds of Mississippi College students at MC's Career Day 2009 on Tuesday February 24.

More than 65 organizations - from Blue Cross Blue Shield to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - are booked for the annual event at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. It runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. above the MC cafeteria in Anderson Hall.

With President Barack Obama signing a record $787 billion stimulus package to revive America's shaky economy and get millions back to work, it's critical for college students to start career planning earlier than ever, MC leaders say.

MC's Career Day 2009 will be the right step in that direction, organizers say. A fashion show to help students dress for success, rapid resume reviews, networking presentations and meetings with employers are among the Career Day components, said Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, director of the MC Office of Career Services.

The event is free and open to current MC students (a student ID is required) and alumni. Students and alums are asked to bring copies of their resumes and dress professionally.

While the U.S. is facing a tough job market, many companies are sending human resources people, recruiters and other personnel to MC to size up students.

Other employers signed up: Baptist Health Systems. Cellular South, the FBI, Internal Revenue Service, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, St. Dominic Hospital, the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Trustmark, Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co., and ten Mississippi school districts, including Clinton public schools.

Key events include:

-Rapid Resume Reviews from noon until 3 p.m. in Meeting Room A

-Career Day Fashion Show at 12:45 p.m. in Anderson Hall

-Networking Presentations from 1-2 p.m. in Meeting Room B
