MC Welcomes New Students Thursday August 6

Scores of new Mississippi College students are expected to attend an orientation session on the Clinton campus Thursday Aug. 6.

It is an abbreviated version geared to students who missed orientations in June and July. The event begins at 8 a.m. in the B.C. Rogers Student Center and concludes three hours later. MC officials expect about 100 students will register for Thursday's session.

MC President Lee Royce, Director of Career Services and Retention Karen Lindsey-Lloyd and Chad Phillips, executive director of enrollment services, will be among the speakers. The students will also hear from Rick Hartfield, director of student life, and Ben Maddox, the new Baptist Student Union director.

Advising and registration sessions begin at 9:15 a.m. with a parent roundtable discussion to begin at 9:30 a.m. Jim Turcotte, vice president of enrollment management and student affairs, will lead the session.

"We are expecting another quality class for 2009 and look forward to the next few weeks as students move-in and begin classes," said Kyle Brantley, associate director of admissions on the Clinton campus.

Classes begin August 26. MC students will also take part in a Welcome Week from Aug. 22-29, including a move-in day, a volleyball tournament and a Mississippi Braves game at Trustmark Park in Pearl - to name a few of the activities.
