Mississippi College Hosts Choctaw Fanfare 2015

MC Choctaws head football coach John Bland and assistants will be on hand for Choctaw Fanfare 2015 on August 15.

Mississippi College fans are pumped as the Choctaws begin their second season transitioning to NCAA Division II.

To help get the MC student-athletes and fans fired up this fall, university supporters are invited to the Choctaw Fanfare 2015 at the A.E. Wood Coliseum on August 15.

Tickets are now on sale for the second annual event at the Golden Dome. It combines delicious tailgate foods with the opportunity to mingle with Choctaws players and coaches. There will be plenty of time to snap pictures and pose questions about this fall’s sports season.

The Saturday evening program runs from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, university friends and others cheering for the Blue & Gold are invited.

MC head football coach John Bland remains encouraged by the tremendous fan support on the Clinton campus as the Choctaws last fall returned to Gulf South Conference play for the first time since 1996.

“The atmosphere our fans created last year was one of the best in the league,” Bland said. “We are going to build on that.”

Bland says he’s delighted the Choctaws scheduled six home games at Robinson-Hale Stadium for the 2015 football season.

MC gridiron action kicks off at home with a 7 p.m. game against Texas College on September 5. Following a September 12 road contest with GSC powerhouse North Alabama, the Choctaws return to the Clinton campus. MC will face metro Jackson rival Belhaven University on September 19.

Choctaw Fanfare, food and fun doesn’t just revolve around MC football.

Players and coaches from Mississippi College volleyball, soccer, cross country and cheerleading squads will be in the spotlight, too.

Tickets cost $10 per adult and $5 per child (ages 5-12).

The event will be part of a busy day for MC student-athletes. On August 15, hundreds of MC players will move into residence halls on the Clinton campus.
