Mississippi College Wraps Up Summer Orientations

Mississippi College leaders expect to welcome 250 incoming students to the summer’s final two orientation sessions in early July.

President Lee Royce, Vice President of Academic Affairs Ron Howard and Chad Phillips, executive director of enrollment services, will be among the speakers at the university’s transfer orientation July 8.

The program begins with an 8:30 a.m. check-in and breakfast at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Students will also hear from Cam Armstrong, the coordinator of student life, and Clare Agostinelli, assistant director of career services. There are also sessions booked for parents. The one-day event closes with a 12:30 p.m. lunch in Anderson Hall for students and parents.

Before it’s over, visitors will get briefed on everything at Mississippi College from financial aid to academic programs and meet with leaders of student organizations on the Clinton campus.

Orientation sessions for MC freshmen begin with a 5 p.m. check on July 9 at the Anderson Hall foyer of the B.C. Rogers Student Center. That’s followed by a welcome reception and dinner at 6 p.m. in Anderson Hall. A reception for parents at the Gore Galleries, and a party on the bricks in Olde Towne Clinton are among other highlights that Friday evening.

Activities on Saturday July 10 start with a 7 a.m. breakfast for students at the food court of the B.C. Rogers Student Center followed by advising and registration sessions, and a look at academic programs. The day concludes with a noon lunch for students and parents in the food court. The two-day event is a good time for students and parents to get acclimated to MC before the fall’s day classes begin Aug. 25.
