Mixed Company Hosts Holiday Show

Thanksgiving and the Christmas season are nor very far away. To get in the spirit of the season, the Mississippi College Department of Music is sponsoring a holiday dinner show Nov. 20, and inviting area children to play a role.

Children in grades 2-6 are invited to take part in the show that's directed by MC music professor Carol Joy Sparkman.

The holiday show will feature the music of MC's Mixed Company, the department's vocal ensemble that performs a nice variety of jazz and pop tunes.

Mixed Company performs at area schools, civic clubs and churches. The group of MC students has performed the national anthem the past two years at a couple of Mississippi Braves games at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Mixed Company is part of the award-winning 55-member Mississippi College Singers that has performed on stages from Carnegie Hall in New York to venues in Europe.

Children who sign up will be asked to pay a $30 participation fee that includes a T-shirt and rehearsal CD.

To register for the audition date, October 17, or for more information, call Carol Joy Sparkman at 601.925.3449 or email music@mc.edu
