Mixed Company Performs Holiday Dinner Showcase Nov. 20

MC vocal jazz ensemble Mixed Company
Mississippi College's Mixed Company will perform with children from Clinton, Jackson, Madison and other nearby communities at the Holiday Dinner Showcase Nov. 20.

The Friday evening event at Anderson Hall will help the MC Department of Music raise funds to purchase sound equipment and a digital keyboard plus assist in student recruitment. The program begins at 7 p.m.

Mixed Company is the vocal jazz ensemble of the MC Music Department with the group directed by professor Carol Joy Sparkman. The concert continues a tradition started by the MC Naturals in 1999.

Tickets for the dinner and show are $25 and can be purchased by calling the MC music office at 601.925.3440. Reservations should be made by November 17.

It is one of many musical events at MC in November and December. The Festival of Lights at Provine Chapel Dec. 3-5 will feature the MC Singers with performances set at 7:30 p.m. The concert has brightened the holiday season on the Clinton campus for more than two decades. Tickets cost $10.

The MC Jazz Ensemble will perform Nov. 10 at the Jean Pittman Williams Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature trumpet player Shane Porter. The group is led by Craig Young, the director of MC Bands. Audiences will hear the sounds of swing, jazz and blues that evening in Aven Hall. The concert is free.
