Nursing Students Offer Health Screenings at Health Fair

Mississippi College nursing students will check blood pressure levels, measure cholesterol and oversee other screenings at a health fair April 19.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon Monday at the Baptist Healthplex on the MC campus. The health fair is open to MC faculty, staff and students and the public. About 32 MC nursing students will be on hand to assist.

This year's fair theme is "don't play games with your health."

Participants will "have the opportunity to learn about health concerns such as hypertension, cholesterol and diabetes, to name a few," says Mary Ann Henriques, a registered nurse and MC nursing professor.

Also part of the fair in Clinton will be glucose screenings, plus hearing and eye exams. Information on depression, heart disease and a variety of health topics will be available.

The Mississippi College School of Nursing is partnering with the Clinton Parks and Recreation Department to host the event.
