Orientation Sessions for New Students

Preview Day at Mississippi College
Mississippi College leaders will welcome hundreds of incoming freshmen and transfer students at three different orientation sessions in June and July.

The dates are June 19-20 and July 10-11 for incoming MC freshmen. Transfer students are invited to visit the Clinton campus for meetings July 9.

The students will hear from a parade of MC leaders, including Ron Howard, vice president for academic affairs; Chad Phillips, executive director of enrollment services, Karen Lindsey-Lloyd, director of career services, and Student Government Association President David Parker. Rick Hartfield, director of student life, and Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs, and leaders with the Baptist Student Union are among the other scheduled speakers.

Nearly 500 freshmen and 230 transfers attended similar sessions last year, said Kyle Brantley, MC's associate director of admissions.

The first session on Friday, June 19 begins with a 5 p.m. check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Incoming freshmen, who begin classes in late August, will also get the opportunity to stay overnight in residence halls on the Clinton campus, enjoy games and live music plus attend meetings loaded with the latest MC information. There will also be a reception for parents at the Gore Galleries.

MC transfer students start the day with an 8:30 a.m. registration at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. That's followed by breakfast, meetings with key MC leaders and lunch at 1 p.m. on that Thursday, July 9.
