Spring Preview Day 2015 Set for Mississippi College

Hundreds of high school students across the Magnolia State and around the South are coming to Mississippi College’s 2015 Spring Preview Day.

On April 11, visitors will hear remarks from President Lee Royce, sample a variety of MC classes, learn about financial aid and cheer on the Choctaws at a home baseball game against rival Delta State.

Activities that Saturday begin with check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center at 9 a.m.

Officials at the 5,000-student Christian university will present a series of messages to make prospective students and their parents pretty familiar with all aspects of life on the Clinton campus.

Assistant directors of admission Michael Wright and Anna Mortimer gets things started with a 9:30 a.m. welcome at Anderson Hall.

Other speakers include Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment management and dean of students, and admissions director Kyle Brantley. A Mississippi College professor and current student will also share their perspectives.

At 11 a.m., students are invited to attend MC classes, while parents will be briefed on scholarships, financial aid and other money matters.

During their stay, prospective students will learn about MC’s Office of Career Services, academic programs, residence halls, campus ministries, university organizations and much more. Professors will be on hand to field questions at an Academic Marketplace set for noon at Alumni Gym.

Lunch, tours of the Clinton campus and a visit to the university’s Cadaver Lab in the Medical Sciences Building are booked on the busy Preview Day schedule, too.

Students interested in joining MC’s equestrian, bass fishing and clay shooting teams are invited to Providence Hill Farm for a 90-minute open house at 2 p.m. that Saturday afternoon.

Baseball fans can take their seats and see a key Gulf South Conference doubleheader at Frierson Field as the Choctaws battle Delta State. Action on the diamond begins at 2 p.m.

It looks like the 2015 Preview Day will be a hit and attract big crowds to the Clinton campus.

“We expect to have students from many different surrounding states attend, as well as a strong presence of Mississippi students,” says Anna Mortimer, assistant director of admissions.
