Stan Buckley Keynotes MC Law Graduation

Stan Buckley

Stan Buckley, founder and executive director of But God Ministries, will be the keynote speaker at the Mississippi College School of Law graduation on May 15.

The event at First Baptist Church Jackson begins at 10 a.m. that Friday. MC Law in Jackson enrolls about 430 students.

Buckley served as senior pastor at First Baptist Church Jackson from 2004-2011. In addition, Stan practiced law in Hattiesburg for four years before becoming a pastor in 1995.

A University of Southern Mississippi alumnus in 1988, Buckley is a 1991 graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law.

Buckley also earned a master’s and doctorate from the New Orleans Baptist Seminary.

He and his wife, Jewell, are the parents of twin sons and a daughter.

A story on Stan Buckley in MC’s “Beacon” magazine earlier this year, focused on his ministry work in Haiti. He was accompanied by a small group from First Baptist Church Jackson in August 2010. That was 10 months after a devastating earthquake killed as many as 230,000 people, injured 300,000 and left 1.6 million victims homeless.

“I’ve never seen such utter hopelessness and despair,” Buckley told the MC alumni magazine.

But God Ministries has moved 60 families out of tent cities into newly built homes in Haiti and sponsored school scholarships for more than 200 children.
