Students Present Winter Choral Concert at Mississippi College
About 40 Mississippi College students will blend their voices for a winter choral concert filled with delightful holiday season music.
The free concert on the Clinton campus December 2 will feature the combined MC Women’s Chamber and Men’s Glee Choir under the direction of visiting music professor Milburn Price.
Price is the former dean of the School of Performing Arts at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He serves as director of choral activities at Mississippi College for 2014-15.
Written by Dr. Price, the first work of the 7:30 p.m. program at Provine Chapel is titled “Hodie! Emmanuel! Gloria!”
Price also serves as conductor of the MC Singers.
Other Mississippi College students will display their musical talents at the historic chapel that Tuesday evening.
MC Choctaws basketball player and kinesiology major Andrew Fehrenbacher will play the violin on one of the pieces. Christa Morgan, daughter of MC business professor Mark Morgan, will play the flute. The concert will last about 45 minutes.
Concert-goers will notice this event is a perfect fit with MC’s Lighting of the Quad celebration later that Tuesday evening. Mississippi College will illuminate the Clinton campus, read the Christmas story and invite the Clinton community for hot chocolate and cookies for Quad activities at 8:30 p.m.
