Third Suspect Arrested in Mississippi College Armed Robbery

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Mississippi College over the Labor Day weekend.

The suspect has been identified as Umneon Ramone Thomas, 21, of Bolton, said Clinton Police Chief Mike Warren. No bond has been set for the latest suspect as of Friday afternoon. Thomas has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

The Hinds County resident was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Task force and transferred to the custody of the Clinton Police Department, Warren said.

Earlier this month, Clinton police arrested Corey Gillispie Booth, 23, of Jackson who is accused of threatening two MC students with a gun in a campus parking lot. Connesia G. Samuel, 21, of Jackson, was charged as an accessory. Both remain in the Hinds County Jail.

Two female MC students escaped unharmed. The suspect allegedly got away with their belongings before fleeing the campus on foot.

“The detectives did a good job putting the information together,” Warren said. No more arrests are anticipated. “We think this is it.”

The Clinton Police Department, however, will continue to step up patrols around the Mississippi College campus this fall, the chief said.

While this is an “unfortunate incident” at Mississippi College, Warren said he hopes it causes the MC community to remain vigilant and more aware of their surroundings.
