Valentine’s Day Jazz Dance Set for Mississippi College

Valentine's Jazz Dance, Feb. 13th

Central Mississippi residents should wear their best dancing shoes when they visit the Clinton campus on February 13.

That’s the date booked for the Valentine’s Jazz Dance with entertainment supplied by the Mississippi College Jazz Band.

The MC Music Department is sponsoring the fun activity that Friday evening. Mike Day and his wife, Lisa, both veteran instructors at the Mississippi Dance Connection studio in Pearl, will offer dance lessons. Mike is an award-winning cartoonist who’s won his share of dance contests in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama over the years.

The dance begins at 6 p.m. at Aven Hall and that’s when the lessons begin. The unforgettable evening promises two hours of live music, dance lessons and a chance for area dancers to show off their skills to their sweethearts. It’s not TV’s “Dancing With the Stars,” but perhaps the next best thing in the Magnolia State.

The Valentine’s Jazz Dance is open to the public.

Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 for faculty and staff, and $10 for students from any school.

For more information, contact Dottie Serio of the MC Music Department at 601-925-3440 or go to www.mc.edu/marketplace to purchase tickets online.
