The accelerated nursing program at Mississippi College is 4 semesters in length and leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. The course route is available to students who have completed a first undergraduate degree. Up to a maximum of 30 hours of prerequisite courses may be required depending upon the student's first degree completion requirements. ABSN students complete 60 hours of upper division nursing courses to earn the BSN degree.
The number of students admitted to the clinical portion of the nursing major is determined by the administration of the School of Nursing, and may vary depending on the number of qualified applicants and School of Nursing resources.
The first degree and all nursing prerequisite courses must be completed before admission to the nursing major.

The ABSN program is for students with a first baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. A direct entry route will allow these students to have their first degree accepted and stand for their core and general education requirements. Specific pre-requisite competencies and the MC SON Transition to Nursing Practice course (NUR 250) must be met in order to fulfill nursing expectations, and is available on campus during fall and spring semesters, or online offering for ABSN students during fall, spring and summer. ABSN students who do not have a bible course are required to take either Old Testament or New Testament. The ABSN program began in Fall 2017. The application deadlines are February 1 and September 1.

ABSN applicants are to take the HESI Critical Thinking Exam at a prometrics testing center or pay the requisite fee to take this at MC early in the class semester start up. This is not an entrance exam and the outcome will not afftect your acceptance into the nursing program.
