Alumni at Mississippi College Hit the Road in June

MC alumni reunite at the Mississippi Society of Georgia’s Mississippi in the Park event in Atlanta.

Mississippi College alumni will hit the road soon for three major events in June.

Rain or shine, expect plenty of alums to enjoy catfish plates and relish a warm dose of Southern hospitality at the Mississippi Society of Georgia’s Mississippi in the Park event in Atlanta.

That happening in the biggest city in the Peach State is set for Saturday June 6. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Chastain Park at 145 West Wieuca Road NW. Just look for the friendly Mississippi College alumni tent. Representatives from schools like Delta State, Mississippi State and the University of Southern Mississippi will join the fun.

Things move to the Midwest for Mississippi College family and friends. Leaders like MC Christian Development Vice President Eric Pratt and Bill Townsend, vice president for advancement, are expected to welcome pastors and other guests at annual Southern Baptist Convention meetings in Columbus, Ohio.

The SBC sessions are set for June 16-17 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Mississippi College family and friends will gather on Tuesday June 16 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center’s Level 2 (C 214-15) for food and fellowship time. The event runs from 5-7 p.m.

MC admissions director Kyle Brantley, enrollment services dean Mark Hughes, and associate admissions director Michael Wright will also greet the visitors in Ohio. So will office manager Angie Hardin, financial aid director Karon McMillan and Chad Phillips, digital media & communications staffer with the advancement office.

The Southern Baptist Convention, Brantley said, is “a good place to recruit because we encounter lots of alumni who have high school-aged children who sometimes come along for the conference.”

The final stop for MC alumni will be Saturday June 20 in Washington, D.C. for the 25th annual Mississippi on the Mall celebration.

The venue will be the Henry Bacon baseball fields at the Northeast corner of the Lincoln Memorial. Catfish, soft drinks and live music will be among the main attractions from 3-7 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
